Dr. Sommers
Dr. Sommers graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1975, earned a graduate degree in orthodontics there in 1977 and soon after began his practice of orthodontics in Minot. Dr. Sommers has been President of the North Dakota Dental Association and is a Director of the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists. He has also served a number of different community interests through the years including those with the Minot Lion’s Club and First Presbyterian Church. Although his leisure time is filled with various activities including golf, tennis, skiing and fishing, the activity that he enjoys most is performing with the Minot Symphony Orchestra with whom he has been a first violinist since 1977. Dr. Sommers and his wife, Rita, enjoy four grown children and one granddaughter.
Staff
Tanya is often the first person you see as you walk through the office door. She has been employed with Dr. Sommers since 2002 as Financial and New Patient Coordinator. Tanya has two children and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Brenda has worked for Dr. Sommers since 1993. She presently serves as our Insurance Coordinator and can help sort out any insurance concerns or other office questions you may have. Brenda and her husband, Myron, have two grown sons and stay occupied with their spoiled Yorkie Poo, Charlie. They enjoy motorcycle and ATV riding in their spare time.
Julie is our Treatment Coordinator as well as a Certified Orthodontic Assistant working for Dr. Sommers since 1986! Julie first began working for an orthodontist while in High School and has worked in dentistry or orthodontics ever since. She and her husband Greg have two teenage daughters, both involved in many high school activities. Julie also loves being entertained by her two dogs, a Westie and a Chocolate Lab. In her spare time she likes to scrap book, camp, golf, watch HGTV and spend time with friends and family.
Sandy (AKA: Dee) has been a Certified Orthodontic Assistant for Dr. Sommers since 1992. Dee is our Patient Flow Coordinator (AKA: traffic control) for the office. She really enjoys the patients before and after transformations. Dee has three children, her oldest daughter is a cosmetologist in Minot, her two youngest are college students at MSU. She loves spending time with her family and spoiling her grandson!
Janie has worked as an orthodontic assistant since 1989 and loves her job. Janie and her husband have three grown children and four grandchildren. Janie enjoys singing with the music groups Voices of Note and the Treble Makers. She and her husband love to travel and ride their motorcycle around beautiful North Dakota.
Monica has been Dr. Sommers Lab Technician since 1992. She is responsible for making most of the orthodontic appliances used in the office. She and her husband Jeff have two sons and enjoy spending time fishing and relaxing at their lake cabin.
Sandy has been a Registered Orthodontic Assistant working for Dr. Sommers since 1986. She loves her job and enjoys working with the variety of patients seen each day. In her spare time she loves riding her motorcycle and her horse, Midnight. Sandy also enjoys hunting of all kinds.
Shelly has enjoyed working for Dr. Sommers since 1995 as a Certified Orthodontic Assistant. She has lived in Minot all her life and is a HUGE Elvis and Packer fan. Shelly and her husband, Mark, have a son and a daughter and a cute little puppy named Libby.
